A Brazilian woman, Jeniffer Castro, who gained attention in December 2024 for not relinquishing her pre-booked window seat to a crying child on a short flight from Rio de Janeiro to Belo Horizonte, has now shared the profound effect this decision had on her professional life.
The 50-minute flight turned into a viral sensation when another passenger recorded and shared a video online, aiming to publicly criticize Castro’s actions. In the video, the recorder can be heard saying in Portuguese, “I’m recording your face, this is disgusting,” sparking widespread online debate about airplane etiquette and the ethics of filming people without consent.
Now 29, Castro has disclosed that the backlash from this incident has compelled her to abandon her career entirely, highlighting the severe personal repercussions that followed the viral moment.
“Professionally, my life has changed a lot, so much so that today I am no longer in the field I worked in before. I was a banker;” the woman revealed.
Adding that she tried becoming an online influencer but it isn’t something she really wants.
