Woman living with condition which could ‘kill her any time’

Amber Ford, a 31-year-old woman from Scotland, has been grappling with anxiety over her health for years. It all began in 2018 when she started experiencing troubling symptoms that left her in a state of constant worry. Initially, she feared she might have throat cancer due to the persistent issues she was facing. As her concerns grew, she underwent a CT scan, only to discover a ‘shadow’ in her brain, which prompted further investigation. In April 2024, an MRI finally provided clarity to her situation: she was diagnosed with multiple aneurysms.

Aneurysms occur when there is a bulge in a blood vessel in the brain, and they pose a serious risk because if they rupture, the consequences can be life-threatening. Amber’s experience highlights the importance of seeking medical attention when health concerns arise, as early detection can be crucial in managing such conditions. Now, she faces daily uncertainties, grappling with the fear that her condition could lead to life-altering events at any moment.

Speaking with PA Real Life, she described thinking: “‘Are they going to rupture today?’ and ‘Am I going to die today?’”

While searching for solutions, Amber has found a doctor in the US who specializes in complex and rare aneurysm cases. She’s now launched a GoFundMe to help raise money for travel and treatment.

“This has completely taken over my whole life … I don’t even leave the house because I start having panic attacks,” she said. “I genuinely just want my life back, I want to have a family and enjoy my life.”
